bottlers note label: Aroma: Gebackene Toffee-Äpfel mit Kohlenfeuerrauch und Muskatwürze.
Geschmack: Geräucherte Melasse mit dunkler Schokolade Kakaonibs und verkohlter Zitronenschale.
Im Nachklang staubiger Rauch hält sich und baut sich zusammen mit herbstlichen Kräutern auf.
Ausbau: three American oak hogsheads, one sherry hogshead
Besonderheit: vatting of 4 casks, Faßstärke, non chill-filtered, natural colour, limited edition 1296 Flaschen.
Soweit, so gut.... wenn auch knapp.

Ok, vielleicht Bunnahahain aber eher Caol Ila... aber was bedeutet Quarter in dem Zusammenhang? Vier casks?
The Whisky Exchange hatte mehrere Schwesterfirmen, Speciality Drinks Ltd. und Elixir Distillers. Über diese Firmen vertrieb Sukhinder Singh, ex-chairman of The Whisky Exchange seine eigenen Abfüllungen u.a. The Single Malts of Scotland.
Der Abfüllerzweig heißt Elixir Distillers und Speciality Drinks Limited, Elixir House, Whitby Avenue, Park Royal, London, NW10 7SF, United Kingdom und kümmert sich um "Speciality Drinks is the premier supplier of whiskies, spirits and champagnes to the on trade."
Elixir Distillers planen eine Destillerie auf der Insel Islay. Die Gebrüder Singh haben The Whisky Exchange mit allen Töchtern an Pernod Ricard verkauft und nur Elixir Distillers behalten.
Diese wiederum kauft im Sommer 2022 die Tormore distillery von Pernod Ricard.
Schon 2009 hat er eine neue range von single Islay malts unter dem Namen Port Askaig herausgebracht. Port Askaig ist die Hafenstadt in deren relativer Nähe Caol Ila liegt. Damals konnte man die malts klar einer Destillerie zuordnen.
Bei einem launch tasting bei The Whisky Exchange, hat Ende September 2015 der Speciality Drinks King of Casks, Oliver Chilton verraten, daß seit dem release des Port Askaig 15yo, nun whiskies aus drei verschiedenen Destillerien in der range abgefüllt werden.
So lange Islay auf den Etiketten steht, sind es denn auch Islay whiskies, aber so eindeutig kann man sie nun nicht mehr Caol Ila zuordnen.
Inzwischen sagt man bei Elixir Distillers: "„Port Askaig is a range of Islay single malt whiskies that embodies the unique spirit of Islay and its people. Nestled into the north coast of the island, the town of Port Askaig has been the gateway to Islay for hundreds of years; it therefore seemed appropriate to name our whisky after this magical place.
